Conference Format:

This year’s conference has been designed so as to allow time for the participants to enjoy the beautiful Sandpearl resort and Clearwater Beach area. Friday afternoon has been left open for them to spend with their family, out shopping, or just enjoying the beautiful beaches. There are so many family friendly activities at the Sandpearl and in Clearwater Beach. For a full list of things to do at the Sandpearl, click here.

Target Audience

Family Medicine Physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, Nurse Practitioners, Orthopaedic Nurses and other allied health professionals interested in sports medicine.

Course Objectives

At the end of the conference, the participant should be able to:

  • Discuss foot intrinsic muscle strengthening and its importance to running gait   and injury prevention.
  • Discuss the risk factors relate to stress fracture development.
  • Discuss using technology to evaluate gait, both in the  clinic and in the lab.

medical education for physicians.

Credit: The University of Florida College of Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 10.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

The University of Florida – Athletic Training Program (BOC Approved Provider Number: P8159) is approved by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education for Certified Athletic Trainers. This program (UF Running Medicine Conference 2017) is eligible for a maximum of 10.75 hours of EBP Category continuing education. Athletic Trainers should claim only those hours actually spent participating in the educational program.

The content covered by the UF Running Medicine Conference 2017 includes domains 1, 2 and 4 of the BOC Role Delineation/Practice Analysis, 6th edition (Injury/Illness Prevention and Wellness Protection, Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis, and Treatment and Rehabilitation). According to the education levels described by the Professional Development Committee of the NATA, the following educational program is Essential Level for Athletic Trainers.

Physician Assistants
Per the NCCPA, any event approved for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ can be classified as Category 1 CME by AAPA and can be filed as Category 1 with the NCCPA. The Running Medicine conference is approved for 10.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
