Please join us on March 15-16, 2012 at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center Gainesville hotel for an interesting, practical, and interactive educational experience hosted by the UF Running Medicine Clinic.
This conference, now in its fifth year, features presentations and breakout sessions with experts from many different areas of Running Medicine. Sport medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists and athletic trainers and other healthcare team members are invited to Gainesville for an informative and engaging conference that provides opportunities to network with colleagues, and to have specific questions answered by experts.
Course Description:
This course is specifically designed for healthcare professionals who have an interest in sports medicine. The course will encompass presentations on diagnosis, treatment, research, education and prevention of athletic injuries. The format consists of lectures and breakout sessions, and will include ample time for participants to network with the faculty.
Target Audience:
Physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, nurse practitioners, orthopaedic nurses and other allied health professionals interested in sports medicine.
Course Objectives: At the end of the conference, the participant should be able to:
- Discuss the latest training strategies for improving running performance.
- Identify and treat common injuries that are experienced by runners.
- Explain the biomechanical assessment of gait including how this helps to identify abnormalities that contribute to injury and how this information is used in the treatment of injuries.
